"Would you like fries with that?"
You’ll be familiar with the concept of upselling, popularised and maximised by McDonald’s. Some say it doubled their profits. So why not take advantage of their technique?
Here’s the flow: A customer asks for a small popcorn. When the POS operator taps the small-popcorn button, a box appears showing choices of medium popcorn and a large popcorn. There’s a prompt in the box to get the POS operator to suggest the customer switch to a bigger size for a small price increase. The POS operator can add any of the options to the order with a single click.
How to set this up
There are three choices at the bottom of each item’s configuration page: options, upgrades, and modifiers. We’re using upgrades.
- Create an individual item for each price point.
- On the lowest-priced item, select Upgrades, and with the blue Manage upgrades button add each of the higher-priced items.
- Click Add as upgrades.
- Add text to the Prompt text field.
- Click Save.
- Add the item to your POS profile, then try it out!
You can read more about options, upgrades, and modifiers on the Veezi Help Center.
