There are a few critical pieces of Loyalty to configure:
- Loyalty levels: Each level is a different membership option you offer to participants in your rewards program. After you create levels, you'll select the Loyalty tickets available to participants at that level.
-
Loyalty points: Earning points is how participants in your rewards program gain access to specific rewards.
Example: You might set up a rewards program in which participants earn 3 points for each dollar spent on tickets and 5 points for each dollar spent on concessions. Participants might be able to redeem 50 points for a beverage or redeem 100 points for an adult admission.
- Loyalty emails: Configure the emails that participants in your rewards program receive when they take actions such as signing up, renewing a membership, or changing from one Loyalty level to another.
In addition, you'll do a small amount of setup to ensure Loyalty members can redeem points and purchase Loyalty tickets at POS. Then, you're ready to promote your rewards program and sell Loyalty memberships!
Set up Loyalty levels
Each level can have unique pricing and a unique renewal period. You can also specify any number of free tickets a participant earns by being a member of the Loyalty program at a specific level.
Example: You create three Loyalty levels: B-Movie, Fan Favorite and Blockbuster!
- Customers can join your Loyalty program at the B-Movie level for free. They can then buy popcorn and candy at a 5% members-only discount.
- Customers can join your Loyalty program for six months at the Fan Favorite level for $20. They can then purchase Fan Favorite tickets to some shows, which you'll price 20% lower than your standard adult ticket. Fan Favorite members can also buy popcorn and candy at a 5% members-only discount.
- Customers can join your Loyalty program for one year at the Blockbuster! level for $50. When they sign up and each time they renew their membership, they'll receive two free tickets. They'll also be able to purchase Blockbuster! tickets to some shows, which you'll price 25% lower than your standard adult ticket. Blockbuster! members can also buy popcorn and candy at a 5% members-only discount.
Participants choose which level to join when they sign up for your rewards program, and they can switch from one level to another at any time. All the levels you create always appear as options in V-Tix.
Tip: How many levels you create depends on your unique operation. One level might be all you need—or you might want many levels to appeal to different groups within your customer base. We recommend you create at least two levels:
- A free level that you can use to communicate with customers who are not ready to make a financial commitment but who are interested and might easily be persuaded to visit when you're offering a discount or promotion.
- A paid level that you can use to encourage frequent visits and bring in predictable revenue from your most supportive customers.
Create or edit a level
- Log in to Veezi.
- Go to Additional modules > Loyalty > Manage > Manage Levels.
- Click Add level, or click the name of any existing level.
- Give the level a name and description.
Important! Customers see the name and description you enter here when they sign up and when they manage their accounts, so pick something that is intuitive and customer-friendly.
- Enter a signup price and a renewal price.
Note: To ensure you get the most out of Loyalty, we strongly recommend you create only one free level.
- Enter a number and select a button to set a renewal period.
Note: Paid memberships should renew so you have the opportunity to generate ongoing revenue from participants. You can select Membership lasts indefinitely for a free level because you're not charging participants.
- Enter a number of tickets. Participants receive these tickets for free when they sign up, and these tickets never expire.
Note: These tickets are separate from any level-specific tickets that you'll price at a discount. These tickets are also separate from any tickets that you make available for purchase with points.
- Enter a number in the Display Order field. The sign-up page lists all membership levels from lowest to highest display order.
- Select the Renew Recognitions On Renewal check box to give customers free tickets when they renew a membership. When they renew, members receive the same tickets they received when they initially signed up.
Create Loyalty tickets
The tickets you provide to Loyalty members must be unique. You can't use standard ticket types in your Loyalty program. You might want to use 'Loyalty' or 'member' in the ticket name to identify these records. If you create tickets available only to members of specific Loyalty levels, you might want to use the level name to identify the Ticket Type records.
You can provide Loyalty tickets to members for free when they join the program or renew a membership. Choose how many free tickets you'll provide when you create a level.
Alternatively, or in addition, you can create Loyalty tickets that are discounted versions of your standard ticket offerings. Loyalty members can purchase these tickets as usual. If you're using a points system, you could configure these tickets so that members could purchase them with points.
- Log in to Veezi.
- Go to Tickets > Ticket Types > Add ticket.
- Copy or create a ticket so that you're working with a new Ticket Type record.
Important: When you create a new ticket, you choose whether it's available to Loyalty members. After you save the record, you can't change this setting.
-
Configure the ticket type as usual, setting a price that is specific to Loyalty members.
Note: To create a free ticket that you provide when a moviegoer joins the program or renews a membership, use the Redemption ticket type.
- Set Is Available to Loyalty Members Only to Yes.
- Select Yes or No to determine whether the ticket is visible to customers who aren't members of your rewards program. When tickets are visible to everyone, they can still be purchased only by members.
Tip: Making Loyalty ticket prices visible to all customers can help promote your rewards program. Customers who see that they're missing out on cheaper tickets might consider signing up.
Note: Members must sign in at POS or in V-Tix to use Loyalty tickets. When Loyalty tickets are not visible to all customers, members must sign in to see the Loyalty tickets available to them.
- Set limits on how many Loyalty tickets a member can use at one time by selecting Show or Order and then entering a number in the maximum field for each Loyalty level.
Note: When you create a free ticket that you provide when a moviegoer joins the program or renews a membership, use the Order restriction.
Examples:
- Select Show and enter 2. Members of the relevant Loyalty level can use only 2 of this ticket type for any individual session, even if they place multiple orders for tickets to the session. To prevent misuse, members can't use additional tickets of this type for any adjacent or concurrent session.
- Select Order and enter 1. Members of the relevant Loyalty level can add only 1 of this ticket type to any individual order, even if they're ordering tickets for multiple sessions.
Important: When you create a Loyalty ticket, you choose which limitation determines how customers can use the ticket. After you save the record, you can change the maximum number, but you can't change the Show or Order setting.
- Choose Yes or No to determine whether members of each Loyalty level can purchase or use this ticket.
- Select a ticket type option as usual.
- Click Save changes.
Update price cards
Customers can't use Loyalty tickets until those tickets are included in price cards. Go to Tickets > Price Cards to add your new Loyalty ticket to price cards.
Offer additional Loyalty-exclusive pricing
When free or discounted Loyalty tickets aren't enough to recognize your most valuable customers, you can offer concession discounts that are exclusive to members of specific Loyalty levels. You can also run promotions specific to Loyalty tickets.
Set up Loyalty points
You can allow Loyalty members to earn points for particular purchases and then spend those points to buy specific tickets and concessions. You decide whether and how members earn points and what items they can spend those points on. You can have members earn points at one rate when they buy tickets and earn points at a different rate when they buy concessions.
Important! Loyalty points are optional. Think carefully before you start a points program because you can't turn the points feature off after you turn it on. You can discontinue your points program at any time, but Loyalty members will always see a points balance in their accounts, even if the balance is zero and there is no longer any way for them to earn or spend points.
You create one points system for your rewards program. Loyalty members earn and spend points the same way, no matter which level they join.
- Log in to Veezi.
- Go to Additional modules > Loyalty > Manage > Configure Points.
- Name your points system. For example, you might want your Loyalty members to earn Reward Dollars or Movie Bucks. The name you enter appears when members sign in to manage their accounts and on receipts.
- In the earning rates fields, enter the number of points members earn for each dollar spent.
Important: The earning rate must be in the range of 0 to 10.
Tip: To keep things simple for you and your Loyalty members, use whole numbers on a scale that's easy to understand. For example, you might price point purchases in increments of 5 or 10.
- Choose whether points earned for dollars spent includes taxes.
- Click Yes to have members earn points on the full purchase price.
- Click No to have members earn points on only the pre-tax price.
- In the Redemptions section, select the concessions and ticket types that Loyalty members can buy with points.
Tip: To encourage participation and activity in your rewards program, make as many items as possible available for purchase with points. Make tickets purchasable with points to encourage additional visits.
- Click Manage items, and then click Add to select each of the items you want to make available for purchase with points.
- Click Save.
- In the Points Cost field, enter the number of points Loyalty members redeem for each item.
- In the Excluded Items section, select any concessions or ticket types that Loyalty members don't earn points for purchasing. For example, you might not want members to earn points for alcohol purchases, booking fees, or low-margin concessions.
Important! Members earn points at the earning rate you specified for all items that aren't excluded. Search for an item class or click the Item Class heading to sort the item list by class so that you can easily select each of the items in a particular item class.
- Click Manage items, and then click Add to select each of the items customers won't earn points for buying.
- Click Save.
Note: Review point balances regularly to understand what members spend points on and which members are building up large point balances. Log in to Veezi and go to Additional Modules > Loyalty > Manage > Search and Manage Members to search and filter your member list. In each member record, you can adjust the point balance as needed when you have a reason to increase or reduce an individual member's point balance.
Set up Loyalty emails
Veezi can email Loyalty members automatically based on particular actions. You can customize the text of these emails and add your own images. You can also decide whether to send emails reminding Loyalty members to renew their memberships.
- Log in to Veezi.
- Go to Additional modules > Loyalty > Manage.
- In the Emails section, click the name of any email to customize it.
- After you've made changes:
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen.
- Enter your email address.
- Select a site and a Loyalty level.
- Click Send Preview.
- Review the email you receive and make sure everything is correct before you click Save changes.
Tip: Preview the email on a few different clients (such as Outlook and Gmail) and devices (such as a computer and a smartphone) to ensure your design will reach Loyalty members looking as you expect.
Set up POS for Loyalty
When you create Loyalty levels, Veezi automatically creates a renewal and a signup item for each Loyalty level so that POS operators can sell memberships. You can add these items to a POS profile to let POS operators sell memberships with the tap of a button. Alternatively, you can let your POS operators know to search for the membership when they need to add it to an order.
- Log in to Veezi and go to Food & items > Concessions to see and edit the Loyalty items.
Note: Details that are configured in Loyalty are displayed but not editable in the Item record. You can change how Loyalty items are tracked, but we recommend that you set them to Untracked so that they don't clutter your Inventory reports.
- Learn more about customizing the POS screen.
Note: Loyalty membership sales are always reported as box office items. Membership signups and renewals are not included in concession spend calculations.
Tip: When POS operators swipe a member card, the Loyalty screen shows details like the member's Loyalty level, point balance, and available member-only tickets or discounts. To hide this screen, log in to Veezi and go to Settings > Workstations. Select a POS workstation, and clear the Display Loyalty Screen after Card Swipe check box. When the POS operator swipes a member card, the ticket selection screen appears with the signed-in member's name at the bottom.
Promote your rewards program
After you've completed your Loyalty setup, add the sign-up and sign-in page links Veezi generated to your website. Links customers can use to sign up and sign in appear in V-Tix automatically.
Reach out to your customers, particularly those on your mailing list, to let them know what membership options are available and what rewards they can earn. Plan to review Loyalty data regularly so you can understand your members and adjust your business strategy accordingly.
