Note: These setup instructions apply only if you're using both the Vouchers and Gift Cards and V-Tix modules.
Give your customers a seamless shopping experience by adding a link to your personalized Veezi online gift shop to your website. With online gift card sales:
- Your customers have the convenience of 24/7 availability.
- You save the trouble and cost of printing and maintaining a stock of physical cards. Your customers simply receive an email with the gift card's details at the end of a successful transaction.
Before you begin
Before you can turn on the online gift shop, you must:
- Configure a payment connector for V-Tix.
- Create the gift cards that you'll sell in the online gift shop.
Turn on the online gift shop
- Log in to Veezi.
- Go to Additional Modules > Vouchers and Gift Cards. Review the online gift shop pricing details.
- Click Enable Online Gift Shop.
- Copy the URL that Veezi generates. Add this URL to your website as a button or a link in a menu or navigation path to send visitors to the online gift shop.
Important! When you first turn on the online gift shop, or when you add items to the gift shop, the system will need some time to update before your gift shop or new items appear. Typically, this process takes an hour or less.
Decide what setup you'll use
You can set up an online gift shop in two ways:
- You can create an Item record for each of your gift cards. With this setup, visitors to your website click the button for the gift card option they want, and then confirm their selection by continuing to the payment screen.
- You can create one Item record for the shop, and offer all of your gift cards as options. With this setup, visitors to your website click on the single button to buy a gift card, and then select the gift card option they want.
Configure items for the online gift shop
- Log in to Veezi.
- Go to Food & items.
- Click Add item and then select Create a custom item.
Note: When you turn on Vouchers and Gift Cards, Veezi creates a gift card item for use at POS. When you're ready to set up records for the online gift shop, you'll start by creating a new gift card item instead of using the one Veezi has already created.
Important! The online gift shop uses a standard image for all gift cards. Don't upload a POS image in the item record, because the image won't appear in the gift shop.
- Give the item a name and a label.
- If you've decided to use the first setup option described above, the name and label should correspond to a gift card you've already created.
- If you've decided to use the second setup option described above, the item you're creating will group all your gift cards, so the name and label you choose can be generic. For example, "Gift cards" and "GC."
Tip: The name appears in your online gift shop, so enter text that helps visitors to your website understand what they're about to purchase, such as "$25 gift card." The label doesn't appear in the online gift shop, so make sure information that customers need is in the title. Item labels appear only in reports.
- In the Item Class field, select Gift Card Sale.
Note: Item classes group similar items in reports.
- Set the Unit of Measure field to Each.
- Select an appropriate Sales Tax option to reflect how you tax and report gift card sales and redemptions.
- Leave the Voucher Identifier field blank.
- Set the Item Price Type to Fixed.
Important! You can't sell variable-price gift cards in the Veezi online gift shop.
- Set the Default Item Price and the Cost Price to 0.00. These prices don't appear in the online gift shop. Instead, the gift shop shows the activation value you specified when you created gift card voucher type records.
- Optionally, select the Report as Box Office check box. Typically, this check box is selected for gift card items and revenue from gift card sales is reported as box office revenue. If you clear this check box, revenue from gift card sales is reported as concession revenue and included in your spend-per-head calculations.
- Set Sell via Connect to YES.
- In your edited Item record, click USE OPTIONS, and then click Manage options.
- Add one or more options to the item.
- If you've decided to use the first setup option described above, search for and add the gift card voucher type that corresponds to the name of the item. Then, click Add as options.
- If you've decided to use the second setup option described above, search for and add each of the gift card voucher types that you'll offer in the online gift shop. Then, click Add as options.
Important! When you add options, select the records that Veezi created automatically when you created gift card voucher types. Don't use any item records you might have created.
- In the Prompt Text field, enter text that appears above the items a user can select in the online gift shop.
Note: The prompt text appears regardless of the setup option you're using.
- Review your settings and verify that everything is correct.
Important! Verify that the Sell via Connect setting is set to YES before you save the item.
- Click Save changes.
If you've decided to use the first setup option described above, repeat the steps above for each of your gift cards.
