Automatically send a weekly email to the moviegoers on your V-Tix mailing list to promote your upcoming films and showtimes. Apply your branding, and set and forget. The email looks great on mobile devices too.
Before you begin
- Make sure you have V-Tix, Veezi's ticketing solution, enabled on your website. This is required for using Movie Mailer.
- When Movie Mailer is enabled, Veezi charges a small fee per ticket sold via V-Tix, whether the ticket is sold via a link in the email or directly. Contact us for the details.
- Make sure you have some subscribers in your V-Tix mailing list. These are captured during ticketing, but only if you've enabled the V-Tix setting Capture Email Addresses. You can also import a list and automatically sync your Mailchimp list if you have one. To do either of those, go to Additional Modules > Mailing List. This is also where you can go to remove inactive or spammy-looking subscribers.
- Make sure your Terms & Conditions cover your use of email addresses for regulations like GDPR.
- Only one Movie Mailer email can be set up per site.
- Read 'How the email works' at the bottom of this article.
V-Tix setup
The highlight colour (for buttons) and banner image that appears in the emails are determined by your V-Tix settings. If you want to change any of these, in Veezi Back Office, go to Additional Modules > V-Tix > Manage.
The background colour defaults to white and can't be changed.
Movie Mailer setup
- Go to Additional Modules > Movie Mailer, and click Learn more.
- Read the information about Movie Mailer, and click Enable Movie Mailer.
- Set the day and time of the week you want to send it on.
- Important! Set this to match the start day of your cinema week (often Thursday but configurable by Veezi). This will ensure that the films that appear in the email are from your current cinema week and not the next one.
-
Set how many films you want to show in the email.
Note:
- We'll only show one poster per film in the email. So even if you set this to 6, if you only have two films programmed for the relevant cinema week, we'll only show two posters.
- If there are a greater number of films playing in the next week than the number you set here, we'll include the ones that have the greatest number of shows. These will be displayed according to their show count, left to right, top to bottom, starting with the greatest number of shows.
- For any films that have the same show count, these will be displayed in alphabetical order.
-
Enter your reply-to email address.
Note: The emails will be sent from noreply@veezimail.com. -
Customise the email subject line, body, and button text.
Note the key to the right, which tells you how to format your text or add links or snippets, such as your site name. - If you want to send moviegoers to a custom website (not V-Tix) when they click the button in the email, select Custom and enter a URL (website address).
- Enter the email address that you want to send a preview of the email to.
- Click Send Preview, and check the email you receive.
- When you're happy with the setup, change it to Active, and click Save Changes.
The automatic Movie Mailer email is now live!
How the email works
- If a moviegoer clicks a film's poster or Tickets button, they'll be sent to that specific film in the weekly film and showtime view on V-Tix, where they can select a showtime.
- If a moviegoer clicks the See all shows for this week button, depending on where you've configured it to link to, it will either take moviegoers to the weekly film and showtime view in V-Tix or a page on your custom website. From there, they can explore the films and showtimes available for the week.
- If a moviegoer clicks the Unsubscribe link, they'll be removed from your V-Tix mailing list, and you won't be able to send them any more emails, Movie Mailer or otherwise.
