Using basic vouchers

You can create a ticket type that works just like a voucher, in that it can be sold and redeemed for a specific kind of ticket. When you complete this setup without using the Vouchers and Gift Cards module, you can't create or manage voucher inventory. Your vouchers are not tracked or secure because there is no unique barcode to prevent customers from redeeming a voucher multiple times. However, setting up a voucher ticket type is a simple process that can let you start issuing and accepting vouchers very quickly.

Note: When you create vouchers using the Vouchers and Gift Cards module, Veezi automatically creates the voucher Ticket Type records that you need, so you don't need to complete this setup.

Note: If you use this setup, rather than the Vouchers and Gift Cards module, customers won't be able to redeem vouchers online.

Important! Contact Veezi support before you complete these steps. You will likely need additional configuration before you can start using basic vouchers.

1. Log in to Veezi.
2. Go to Tickets > Ticket Types > Add Ticket > Create a new ticket.
3. Enter ticket details. For more information on these fields, see the Creating and managing tickets topic.
4. In the Ticket type section of the form, click REDEMPTION and select one of the following options:
   • Sold as an item: Choose this option if you want to sell vouchers.
   • Not sold: Choose this option if you want to redeem vouchers but don't need to sell them. For example, you could use this option if you're running a promotion that doesn't involve pre-purchase of a voucher, such as "show your social media post of your #dayatthecinema when you purchase a matinee ticket, and receive a second matinee ticket free.
     

     Note: In some scenarios, a redemption ticket that's not sold might work very similarly to a complimentary ticket. Both tickets are free to customers, and both appear in POS with a sale price of zero. The difference between these two ticket configurations is that only the redemption ticket has a value determined by a price card and included in reports that go to distributors.
