The UK Government’s temporary VAT reduction on children’s admissions and qualifying items ends on 1 September 2026.
From 2 September 2026, VAT returns to the standard rate of 20%.
This article explains how to update your Veezi setup to revert the changes you made during the promotion period.
What needs to change
Any ticket types or items that were updated to use the 5% VAT rate will need to be returned to 20% VAT.
This typically includes:
- Children’s ticket types
- Family ticket components (including any temporary ticket types created for packages)
- Children’s concession items, if you created them
Before you start
Review your setup and identify:
- Ticket types currently using the temporary 5% VAT rate
- Any temporary ticket types created for family packages
- Any children’s concession items using the reduced rate
You can either:
- Revert existing items back to 20%, or
- Replace temporary items with your original setup
Revert the VAT rate in Veezi
1. Update children’s ticket types
- In Veezi Back Office, go to Tickets > Ticket Types.
- Open each children’s ticket type that currently uses the 5% VAT rate.
- Set the tax rate back to your standard 20% VAT rate.
- Save your changes.
2. Update children’s concession items (if applicable)
- Go to Food & items > Concessions.
- Open each children’s item (for example, Kids Popcorn or Kids Combo).
- Set the tax rate back to 20% VAT.
- Save your changes.
If you created these items specifically for the promotion, you may also choose to remove or hide them.
3. Revert family ticket packages
Family tickets require a bit more attention, as VAT is applied at the individual item level, not at the package level.
a. Remove temporary adult ticket types
If you created temporary adult tickets (for example, “Adult – Family VAT 5%”):
- Go to Tickets > Ticket Types.
- Locate the temporary adult ticket types.
- Either:
- Update the tax rate back to 20%, or
- Remove these ticket types from use
b. Restore original package configuration
- Go to your package configuration.
- Open each family package.
- Replace temporary ticket components with your original:
- Standard adult tickets (20% VAT)
- Standard children’s tickets (20% VAT)
- Save your changes.
c. Review any included concessions
If your family packages include concessions:
- Ensure all items now use the 20% VAT rate
- Remove or replace any children’s-specific concession items if they are no longer needed
Clean up temporary setup (optional)
After reverting VAT rates, you may want to tidy up your configuration:
- Remove or disable temporary ticket types
- Remove or rename promotion-specific items (for example, “Kids Summer Ticket”)
- Update any package names or contents back to their original state
Things to check
After completing your updates, check that:
- ✅ All tickets are using the standard 20% VAT rate
- ✅ No temporary 5% VAT rates remain in use
- ✅ Family packages use your standard ticket types
- ✅ Any promotional items are removed or updated
Reverting your setup promptly after 1 September helps ensure your reporting and tax calculations remain accurate.
