Your operations continue, even when the internet stops. And Veezi helps ensure that you can continue to sell tickets and concessions without interruption, even during temporary disruptions to your internet service. POS has an offline mode that is automatically activated when your internet connection is lost.
Transactions continue as normal while POS is offline, and transaction details are saved at the payment terminal until you're back online. When your connection is restored, POS workstation data updates item counts and sales data in Veezi.
When POS is offline, there are a few specific actions the system doesn't support:
- Customers can't redeem Loyalty rewards, vouchers, or gift cards.
- Veezi can't allocate seating.
- Veezi can't update remaining seat counts.
Decide how to handle ticket sales in the case of internet outages
If you use allocated seating, let staff know how to seat moviegoers when you've lost your internet connection. POS and online sales will continue, but no seats will be assigned. Staff might need to assign seats on a physical seating chart or inform customers that seating is general admission for particular sessions.
Because online ticket sales continue as usual, even when your business has lost its internet connection, it's possible to over-sell sessions during outages. Consider turning off online sales if sessions are nearly sold out or if you know it will be a while before your internet connection is restored.
Tip: To turn off online sales for particular sessions in Programming, edit the session and click Web to make the online sales channel inactive. Hold the Ctrl key while you click on multiple sessions, or click the arrow button next to the date selection tools and then click Edit all shows.
You might also consider reducing the number of POS workstations you use during an internet outage. POS can't update seat counts in offline mode, and it's easiest to track this information manually when all sales happen in one place. For example, you might use one POS workstation for ticket sales and a different one for concessions during outages. Or you could put up signs directing customers to a specific POS workstation to purchase tickets for a particular show. Either strategy allows your POS operators to track how many tickets have been sold for a particular session to avoid overselling seats.
Note: After POS has been offline, your POS staff might see a message when they sign out letting them know that saved order information will be sent to Veezi. This is normal and they can simply acknowledge the message. When POS has already completed this task in the background, the message won't appear. If you ever need to prompt POS to send information to Veezi, tap More > Offline Orders.
Tips to minimize connectivity issues
- Use a hardwired connection for more stability and security than a wireless connection provides.
- Never use a residential internet connection for your business. Work with your internet provider to ensure your connection and hardware are appropriate for commercial purposes.
- If your internet connection is temporarily unstable, consider unplugging until a stable connection is restored to prevent POS from going in and out of offline mode.
- We recommend setting up a mobile data backup for your system. Contact Veezi support for guidance on using a mobile data backup to restore internet connectivity.
