When you set up a POS workstation, you have three key settings that control what POS operators see when they log in.

1. When you set up POS, you'll select a check box to indicate whether the POS operator at this workstation will sell tickets.
   • If POS operators sell tickets at this workstation, they'll have two tabs: one for tickets, and one for concessions.
     

     Note: You don't have to configure a profile for the ticket tab. The tickets you create appear in the POS ticket tab automatically.

   • If POS operators don't sell tickets at this workstation, the ticket tab won't appear.
2. If you indicate that POS operators sell tickets at this workstation, you'll choose whether the ticket tab or the concession tab appears first for POS operators.
3. You'll select a profile each time you configure a POS workstation. You can set up a single profile and have all your POS workstations look the same, or you can set up as many profiles as you need to create screens best suited to different workstations.
   

   Note: You can create as many profiles as you need, but each profile can have maximum of 120 buttons spread across a maximum of five tabs. POS operators can search for any item in your system, even if you haven't configured a button for it, but you'll want to plan carefully to ensure your staff has easy access to buttons for the items they sell most frequently.

Example

Let's say you have four POS stations:

• One at the box office window, where customers buy tickets and occasionally some items, like 3D glasses. 
• Two at the primary service counter, where customers buy tickets and concessions.
• One at the ice cream counter, where customers can buy ice cream.

In this scenario, you could create a single POS profile that includes buttons for all of your food and beverage items. That setup will work for all workstations.

However, the POS operator at the box office window will always sign in and immediately switch away from the first tab that appears. The POS operator at the ice cream counter will have to search through all the concession items you offer to find the ice cream buttons, and they might be thrown off every time you offer a new item and change the concession buttons.

A better setup in this scenario would be to create three POS profiles and customize the POS workstation configuration:

• Create a POS profile that has buttons only for the limited number of items available at the box office, such as 3D glasses or gift cards. Use the profile when you configure the box office workstation, and indicate that tickets are sold at the workstation and the ticket tab should appear first.
• Create a POS profile that includes buttons for all your food and beverage offerings except ice cream. Use the profile when you configure the service counter workstations, and indicate that tickets are sold at the workstation. Ask your POS operators whether it's most efficient for them to see the ticket tab or the concession tab first.
• Create a POS profile that has buttons only for ice cream items. Use the profile when you configure the ice cream counter workstation, and indicate that tickets are not sold at the workstation.
